Really big night I had. Hehehe.. I AM 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY!!!! woohoo~!!! Yeah baby yeah!!!!! =p

Yesterday I skipped school to finish up my share of the group assignment and clean my house for my birthday party! Haha.. But there was just so much to do my sis and I were kinda stressed hahaha~ Thank goodness Alan came a few hours earlier to help decorate and organise the game~! Hehe.. Wily came later to help clean my house and prepare calamari rings for my sister~! And he got me flowers too! =]

It was all very last minute but we did it in the end~! YAY!! People started streaming in from 7.45 onwards~ There were about 30 people again this year~! Heaps of fun!!!!!!!!!! My sister cooked like crazy.. Nonstop supply of food and drinks~! But quite a few of the guys helped out, which is cool~ Hehe.. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves~! I did! Especially the pass-the-parcel game with all the funny forfeits!! You can check some of them out in MOI 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Imagestation album! The winner was Christina~ She got an overseas calling card!! Hehehehe!! Jennifer (Indo) baked a chocolate cake for me too and it tasted great~! *yum* I got lovely flowers too!!

Hehe~! What a happy party!!! We finished up at 11pm++ and Alan & Wily stayed behind to help clean up and move the furnitures back~! Awww~~ I'm so lucky to have such great buddies~!!!! =)

Went clubbing with Wily after that~!! Alan couldn't come cos he's got badminton competition!! Had heaps of fun!! Other than the fact that my toes got squashed by stiletto heels 3 times!!! @$#@%@%@!!!! Now my toes are cut up and my toenail is so BLACK and DEAD!!! And the girls who stepped on me, I pushed them off my toes and they only know how to smile!! BITCHES! Met Wyn, Jenn and the usual ppl there again too~ But I got pretty high and tired so Wily took me home before 4~! Heheh.. Thanks Wily~!

Oh wells.. Today my sis and I decided to call Alan and Wily for a home-cooked dinner to thank them for helping out~! Hahaha.. we also had heaps of extra food as well~ I hope they enjoyed the meal!!

That's it.. I'm off to bed!!

I deleted the last post cos the Japanese characters just wouldn't show and the English translation was overly mushy.

Anyway... life is half good half bad.. I'm looking forward to my birthday next Friday and I've been hanging out with heaps of funny friendly girls during my free time. Probably might go clubbing tomorrow with a few girls as well~ Hehe..

*sighs* I've got heaps of research to do though.. It really sucks.. Can't concentrate on anything now. I don't even know when are my deadlines. =( So stressed sia.. and my headache just wouldn't go away after so many weeks!! Argh.. ahh wells.. I should be more optimistic. Smile Mayuyi smile~!

Oops, been lazy in updating again.. Well..

On Sunday I watched the last film for the MIFF with Jennifer and it was such a powerful movie man.. It's a Hong Kong film about this woman who visits this China woman for her dumplings which make women look younger and beautiful. And guess what's in the dumplings!! Aborted foetuses man!! Awww.. shit.. It really hits the audience with all the issues about the selfish society, about women doing anything to look better, about abortions, and about infidelity etc. It's a really crazy film man..

On Monday I watched yet another film~ Haha.. but this time it's for my Film Theory subject. Wow, The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock is such an awesome film even though it was made in 1963! It's about the birds of a town which start to terrorize the townspeople. I think Hitchcock is like the most interesting and talented director ever. I love it~! Hahaha.. Even though it doesn't answer any questions~

The rest of the week's been pretty uneventful. Just slacking around. *Sighs* Plus I'm still trying to keep my friendships with Wily and Alan together as much as possible.. I need more friends...

Went clubbing last night with Stella. We were almost disappointed because it was free entry for ladies with pink tops before 12 and cos we were so last minute and the queue was so long, we were too late.. But Leona was so lovely she helped us get in for free.. Thanks girl~!!! Haha.. music was great.. But both of us soon had a huge headache and stuff so we left kinda early, about 2am.

Today I woke up at 3pm.. 11 hours of sleep but my headache's not going away. *Sighs* Didn't do much.. Just chatted online with my friends and tried to do my TPL Skills Assignment. Went for dinner with Alan just now at Lygon. My goodness he is so sick!! I think he's got the same virus I had last week cos we had the exact same symptoms man.. But I hardly saw him last week, how could I have passed it to him?? My doctor told me it's probably gonna last for a maximum of 5-7 days so it shouldn't be a problem. Aww man... I really hope he gets better cos he's got a week full of assignments and tests ahead of him.

Hehe.. I better go do my work~ Muacks everyone!!

arghhhhhhhh.. don't leave me stranded!

Just got home from yet another film~ Haha yes yes I'm on a daily film marathon cos I regretted missing out on the first week, when Mysterious Skin was showing.. ARGH. Okay don't think about it.

Watched Hidden today. Went with Wily to get the tix but they were sold out so we had to wait in the standby queue for any last minute no-shows. By the time we got the tix, the show had already started for about 3, 4 minutes and we were left with third row seats. Shit man, my neck hurts from staring up the screen.

Georges is a successful guy on TV and his family started receiving tapes of their house and pictures of a boy with blood coming out of his mouth. When his son disappears, he starts thinking about his childhood secrets..

I was really expecting a lot from the film, especially when Daniel Auteuil (The Closet) was starring. I thought it had an interesting style and plot. The filming style was interesting, things happen but you don't realise they've been taped until it gets "rewound". But the credits started rolling at a really bizarre moment and we were stunned, left hanging there. At first I was really disappointed and I kept thinkin and thinking about it while we walked home. Still no answer. Maybe that's what the director wants. Maybe it didn't matter who was the real culprit. Maybe he wanted to be different from other films where they always end up giving us some sort of answer.

Still, there are just too many questions and issues floating in the air. If Majid and his son weren't the ones who sent the tapes, then who did it? Why would a pleasant-looking man like Majid wanna slit his throat like that in front of a guy who doesn't give a shit about him? Is it even worth it to kill yourself over leading an unfair life? And why doesn't Georges feel sorry or any guilt about Majid's sad life and take any responsibility for his cruel actions when he was younger? ARGH.. so many questions, no answers.

Hheheh.. I really enjoy watching these international films and taking them apart. I hope Wily didn't get too bored accompanying me like that. He kept yawning like crazy. Oops..

on my birthday, i'm gonna get so freaking drunk i tell you

Heya~! Hehe.. Just woke up an hour ago man.. Actually I woke up at 9am, but I was terribly hung over, I couldn't stand for too long and slept again. Now I feel heaps better..

Went clubbing at this new event, Chilli, at Publicity after watching this MIFF film Cavite. Woah.. Cavite's pretty cool man.. It's about this Filipino guy who was raised in the US and when he goes to visit his mom and sis in the Philipines, he instead finds that they got kidnapped and he's got to follow the kidnapper's instructions. I know it may not sound like much but it's a pretty interesting movie.

And it was fullhouse! Before the doors opened, the queue trailed for like 3 floors. When the doors opened everyone was on the hunt for the best seats available. Thankfully I managed to find a seat at the side in the back half. I guess the film owed their turnout to the pretty good review they received in the MIFF booklet. I myself probably wouldn't have watched it if not for the review.

Smart, tense, raw and uncompromising, Cavite is everything we crave of a
truly independent thriller.

In the town of Cavite, in the Philipines, people will do just about anything
to survive. Adam, an American citizen visiting his home country for his father's
funeral, soon realises this when he arrives at the Philipines airport and
receives a phone call from an anonymous caller; his mother and nine-year-old
sister have been kidnapped and will be killed if he doesn't comply with the
kidnapper's instructions.

With a budget lower than a standard Hollywood catering budget, this
ingenious, white-knuckle ride blindsided critics at the Rotterdam Film Festival
and created enough suspense to leave its audiences gasping. It combines the sort
of inventiveness that we've come to expect from recent Asian genre cinema with
the unmerciful realism of life on the streets in the Philipines. The result is a
first-class first-person nightmare of bruising intensity.

Hehe.. Oh wells.. Final Verdict: Pretty Damn Good.

So anyway, I went clubbing with Dennis, Andy & Dexter. It was a little weird cos I didn't really know them and it was full of Indonesians but Andy was really nice to me. Annd, I met Christina there~! Hehe.. She's a really crazy friendly girl.. It was heaps of fun.. The music was great~! The crowd was perfect! OH.. but manns.. I almost got totally smashed.. I was still recovering from a fever and I got so drunk, I threw up. But Christina's friend got knocked out and we were helping her out, so I sobered up a little straightaway and drank less after that. Haha.. Everyone got so drunk mannn.. Especially Dennis & Dexter.. They started off just staring at the crowd and 3 hours later they were grinning like mad and shaking their booties all over the place man. Hahaha.. Yeah.. It was a good night~

piccies~

My holiday pics are up in my Winter Recess album. Hehe.. Check it out yo~!

i like the way you move - bodyrockers

Hmm.. surprisingly I've not been speaking to Wily and Alan for the past two days. I know it's not that long but it's pretty long compared to our usual standards.. I guess I wanted some space to clear my thoughts and as Shumei put it - "gain a new perspective".

So... I've been spending some time with myself and it's going pretty well. Yesterday was so uneventful, I got really sick but I was so afraid of missing classes. Then I puked halfway through HPL II. *sighs* My head. My throat. My back! In between classes I was only well enough to eat bananas. But I met an old Trinity friend Farrell and I was kinda glad with a little company before my Film Theory tute. I guess I'm trying to get to know more people and do more things I don't usually do and being alone allows me to do that.

Today I didn't have any lessons. I went to the Law Building during lunchtime anyway to collect my past exam answers and get some feedback. I forgot that they were having a Law BBQ at the same time but too bad, I bought lunch already. After that, the weather became so unreasonable. It got so cold, it started hailing. Just horrible. Wasn't helping my flu at all. All the umbrellas flipped inside out by the crazy wind. Everyone running around trying to find shelter. .

I sought shelter at Union House. Haha.. Was thinking of visiting the doctor's but it seemed like such a boring idea. So when the rain stopped, I trammed down to Federation Square to walk around and have some hot choc. There was this man who looked like an African playin some exotic-looking metal inverted drums that sounded very much like xylophones. The sounds were very interesting, very reggae and he played that oldie "Yesterday". It was real cool.

I decided to watch a film from the MIFF (Melbourne International Film Fest) at the Forum Theatre. The place is really ancient, with quaint Victorian interior. The film is a S. Korean one called Spying Cam. It's about two guys waiting for a call in a hotel room and they don't have anything to do but they have a video cam and gradually they film themselves replaying scenes from a literature book. It started off really funny, everyone was laughing at first but halfway through it got so quiet. I absolutely hated it when the older guy raped the girl. Fucking unforgivable thing he did. The film's not bad, although a little vague. It gets a little frustrating but I guess that's what they want cos all throughout my shivering walk home, I kept thinking about the film and its ending and the more I thought about it, the more things became clearer to me.

Oh darn.. I think my post is starting to drone on and on. I'll stop here~ Will update again~!

mayuyi is fully sick~!

Heya I'm back again~ and this time with a fluu.. Well I've had a miserably horrible fever last night so I'm actually really happy with recovering right now. But I've started having terrible back pains cos I've been sitting rather improperly. Really regret my laziness in sitting upright!

Hehe.. and oh, for those who don't know. The title of this post is not Recently there's been ads going on about how Thorpey (Ian Thorpe) likes to say "fully sick" as a slang for "cool". Even the tipping bowl at Clique has a note attached that says: "Tippers are fully sick!" Oh wells.. bizarre sense of humour Aussies have...

School's been all right.. But my mind's in a whirl right now.. I keep thinking about it 24/7. I think I might just go crazy!! Somehow I feel so insecure and I get this feeling that nobody really cares about me all that much. I mean, they might look like it or be polite, but it's probably my own desires that make me want to believe that they really do. Well, I guess my family still truly cares about me and that's what's important. Guess I've been thinking way too much. Really hope I'll resolve this and feel better before I concentrate on my studies for this semester.

Till next time~
